Why is PEB always preferred for warehousing?

In today's construction trend PEBs are preferred over conventional concrete buildings for warehousing, and PEB is increasingly becoming more popular in recent years. Pre Engineered Buildings use advanced engineering methods to construct warehouses, normally warehousing requires a huge clear span to store raw materials and large-size machinery components, in PEB the maximum clear span in total is up to 150M in length and 90M in height which is the best suited to store huge no of raw materials which is large in shapes and size. Here are some factors that make PEBs reliable over concrete structures:

Clear Span

Spacing is the main factor to be considered for warehousing, warehouse is used to store raw materials, machinery and structural scraps in a large number of shapes and sizes. The real beauty of PEB is, that it eliminates centre columns and beams which is not possible in conventional structures. In PEB the possible max Length ranges from 150-180M and the max height is up to 90M based on the structural design and material selection.

Pre-engineered buildings are cost-efficient compared to concrete structures. The cost of PEB depends on the size and material of the structure. The cost lies on the roof and column, heaven comparing various aspects like labour cost and raw materials the cost of PEB is lesser than compared to civil structures.

Constructing Time

PEBs uses advanced design and manufacturing techniques to construct, some PEB structure is pre-constructed which does not require to construct, and can be fabricated and lead to timely completion. The max time required for PEB warehouses is 4 months, based on the requirement and place of construction, whereas civil structure takes a max of 8 - 12 months of construction time based on the requirement, environment, and no of labours, etc.

Reusable and Flexible

PEB structures are made of steel and iron materials for construction, these structures are easy to fabricate, reconstruct and easy to dismantle and assemble in any location in case of shifting. The materials used in PEB are reusable, reconstructable and rust-free. In concrete construction, these features are not possible, in case of wrong engineering planning in civil construction even the entire construction has to be demolished which leads to financial and time loss. Pre-engineered buildings do not require an environmental clearance, when compared to conventional structures it does not produce much environmental waste or pollution.

The materials used in PEB are high-graded steel and irons which are rust-free and withstand various stress induced on the building. PEB is constructed with (ASIC) standard American codes and IS-graded materials and uses BS and DIN codes for selecting materials. The primary and secondary members are constructed with high-grade steel plates and cold-formed steels

Today there are smart construction techniques are available in the market for constructing quick and hassle-free industrial constructions, these modern construction techniques lead to better-engineered design and quality construction. When comparing various construction methods for warehouses, Pre-Engineered buildings have more advantages and reliability over conventional construction methods. PEB have better strength, a clear span, and quick and flexible construction which makes PEB best suited for warehousing.
